Ian Yan

Ian Yan (Year 5) is a music scholarship recipient. He started learning the violin at the age of 6 and has enjoyed performing on stage ever since. He recently won the Promising Talent Prize in the 9th Leonid Kogan International Violin Competition in Brussels, Belgium. His passionate performances have also taken him to stages in USA, Singapore, and other countries.
Ian is a multiple-award winner in domestic competitions, including consecutive First prizes at the Sydney Eisteddfod and the Adele Anthony Violin Medal at the Adelaide Eisteddfod. In addition to the violin, Ian plays the clarinet and received his AMEB Certificate of Music (CMus) earlier this year.
While he loves the stage, Ian is even more passionate about using his music to help others. He regularly performs at aged cares and his local church, and he has busked for charity fundraising, through which he finds deep connections between his inner world and the world around him.
In his spare time, Ian enjoys playing soccer, gardening, and writing stories.
