The Vths

The Vths quartet was formed as part of the Rising Stars programme at Sydney Conservatorium in 2024 under the tutelage of Kate Morgan. The group comprises of Tong Wu first violin, Yueting Luna Ji second violin, Christina Bhang viola and Audrey Chan cello.

The wonderful cohesion and affinity the group had from their earliest rehearsals together has seen them as prize winners from the start. Their first foray into the vast and exciting quartet repertoire was the Haydn "Vths" quartet from where they chose their own title. After performing together for such a short time, this particular work saw them take out the Junior Prize from the Strike a Chord competition whilst three of the members were still only in Primary School.

They have also explored Beethoven Opus 18 and most recently have been working on the Mendelssohn F minor quartet which they will perform a movement of today. This work has seen them receive a Highly Commended at Sydney Eisteddfod and most gratifyingly, the "Spirit of Chamber Music" prize at this year's Strike a Chord competition. The Vths also recently had the honour of performing to a large audience with great acclaim during the adjudicators decision making of the Sydney Eisteddfod Choral Championships.
