At our recent Young Maestros Community Concerts, the excitement began even before the first musical performance. The opening Music Trivia segment saw a room full of hands in the air—a friendly competition made all the more engaging by generous prizes from our friends at Australian Piano Warehouse.
This wonderful energy carried through to the performances that followed. Our 15th Young Maestros Community Concert at Willoughby Uniting Church on 18 May featured memorable performances by the Kudos Quartet, as well as pianists Léanore Gillet, Leo Ziju Gong, and Symphony Shi.

For the Kudos Quartet, the concert was excellent preparation for their next challenge. Samuel Dharma, who guided them through their rehearsals, shared the good news shortly after:
"Thank you for the opportunity for them to play in your concert — very helpful experience. The following week they played at Sydney Eisteddfod's Chamber Music section and got Highly Commended among 31 chamber groups!"
Our warmest congratulations to the quartet on this wonderful achievement! It was a pleasure to enjoy their performance and contribute to their success, as supporting the development of young and emerging musicians is at the heart of our work.
New Feature: Audio Listening Guides
The series continued with our 16th Young Maestros Community Concert on 21 June at the Master Music Studio in Glebe. At this event, we introduced our new Audio Listening Guides, where a short audio introduction is played before each piece to share interesting details about the work. These guides point out what audiences can listen for to encourage a more engaged experience, while an accompanying slide with the piece title and composer ensures each work is clearly identified.

The audience heard from an outstanding group of musicians. Pianists Claire Yue, Sarah Yu, Léanore Gillet, Jacob Su, and Emma Rose Koeswandy all had the pleasure of performing on the magnificent Steinway grand piano from Theme & Variations Piano Services. The program also featured the only string player, cellist Celina Nguyen, who performed with Michelle Lee at the piano.

Hands-On Instrument Exploration
After the final performance, many in the audience stayed for the post-concert instrument exploration. This session gives children and adults a chance to try an instrument like a cello or violin, guided by our young musicians and educators.
Fostering a Growing Musical Community
This welcoming environment is central to our work. Celina Nguyen, the cellist from our June concert, shared her thoughts:
"Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to perform in your community concert. I truly cherish the experience of sharing classical music with children and families, showcasing the beauty of the cello instrument. I appreciate the warm and welcoming environment you've created to make music affordable and accessible to the public."
Our goal is to foster a genuine community around these events, where performers and audiences can connect through a shared appreciation for music.
